Fourteen research departments within the region’s university base have achieved 5 or 5 star excellence ratings for their work, and there is a culture of partnering and working together to create a commercial opportunity – which translates into a viable R&D stream for industry to partner with. And the West Midlands is unique with a significant portion of its scientific base co-located within National Health Service (NHS) facilities.
